Malaysian biotechnology company SATEERA®, through its Herstory Healthcare Foundation, organised a V-Care Education programme at Taman Sinar Harapan Jubli Johor Bahru, a care centre for women with disabilities under the Department of Social Welfare (JKM).
The programme was conducted with the OE MDMT005 entrepreneur community and included educational sessions for residents, as well as hygiene guidance for caregivers and healthcare staff.
According to the organisers, the programme was intended to provide information on menstrual hygiene, intimate health management and personal care, which can present particular challenges for persons with disabilities. The sessions for residents were simplified and interactive, while caregivers and staff took part in practical sharing sessions on daily hygiene care and support practices.
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Quek Yek Song also took part in the programme and shared information on intimate health, personal safety awareness and when to seek help.
As part of a longer-term support effort, nearly 20 entrepreneurs from the OE MDMT005 community have committed to making monthly contributions of REDFORES Intimate Feminine Foam Wash to women at the centre. The product is developed using SATEERA®’s Smart Anti-Infective Technology.
Allen Beh Wei Lun, Organising Chairman of Herstory Healthcare Foundation, said the foundation’s aim is to support women’s intimate health education and awareness.
“Education is only the first step. Long-term care, dignity and continued support are equally important, especially for communities that are often overlooked. Through HERSTORY, we hope to make these conversations and support systems more accessible to those who need them most,” he said.
He added that the initiative is intended to encourage ongoing support and greater awareness of hygiene and care needs among persons with disabilities.
Dato’ Loh Shin Siong, founder of SATEERA®, said the company believes science and technology should support wellbeing and practical care.
“At SATEERA®, we believe science and technology should not only focus on effectiveness, but also on dignity, wellbeing and long-term protection. We hope initiatives like this can help build a more inclusive and human-centred approach to healthcare support,” he said.
