SATEERA® Strengthens Regional Leadership with Multiple Recognitions for Microbiome-Safe Innovation

Key Insights ▼

SATEERA®, a Malaysian biotechnology company focused on Smart Anti-Infective Innovation, has received multiple recognitions for its patented natural anti-infective innovation.

Most recently, SATEERA was awarded BioNexus Status by the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation, together with a 10-year tax exemption, in recognition of its contribution to advancing sustainable, intelligent and microbiome-conscious biotechnology from Malaysia to the world.

The certification affirms SATEERA’s decade-long R&D journey and its role in reshaping conventional hygiene science by selectively inhibiting harmful bacteria while preserving beneficial microbes essential to human health.

This leadership was further reinforced through regional recognition by ASIA Records, which named SATEERA the First and Most Patented Natural Anti-Infective Formulation Preserving Beneficial Bacteria, supported by 14 international patents across Asia. The recognition highlights SATEERA’s ability to move beyond traditional “kill-all” antibacterial approaches toward a more intelligent, microbiome-safe model.

“This recognition is not just a validation of our past research, but also a solemn commitment to the future, by protecting human health through science and technology,” said Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Lai Chin Wei, Full Professor at the University of Malaya and Senior Scientific Advisor to SATEERA, who represented the company at the certification ceremony.

“Based on my experience as a scientist and educator, I have never seen a technology like SATEERA, one that can inhibit harmful bacteria while preserving the good bacteria in our human body. This is not just an invention; it marks the beginning of a smart natural anti-infective revolution and the dawn of the Good Bacteria Era.” said Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Lai Chin Wei in a press release shared with PP Health Malaysia (PPHM).

Echoing this vision, Dato’ Loh Shin Siong, Founder of SATEERA, said the company’s mission is rooted in a fundamental shift in how hygiene and biotechnology should work. “At SATEERA, we believe the future of biotechnology is not about destroying bacteria, it’s about understanding them. Our mission is to lead the Good Bacteria Era through intelligent anti-infective innovation that precisely inhibits harmful microbes without harming the body’s first line of microbiome defence. When science learns to protect instead of destroy, humanity moves closer to sustainable health.”

As a technology platform, SATEERA’s patented innovation is designed to be applied across multiple health and hygiene categories. One such application is REDFORES, a next-generation intimate hygiene solution powered by SATEERA’s Smart Anti-Infective Innovation.

Developed using the same selective, dual-action mechanism, REDFORES demonstrates how SATEERA’s core science can be translated into targeted consumer solutions that help maintain microbial balance while delivering effective antimicrobial support. The application has also received recognition from ASIA Records for applying one of the most-patented dual-action natural formulations in feminine hygiene, further illustrating the versatility and scalability of SATEERA’s technology.

Importantly, SATEERA emphasises that REDFORES represents just one of many potential applications of its innovation platform, with future solutions planned across broader hygiene and wellness categories.

Backed by independent validation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), University of Malaya (UM), and SGS Malaysia, SATEERA’s innovation has demonstrated strong antimicrobial performance while maintaining microbiome safety, a balance increasingly recognised as critical for long-term public health.

Through its ESG-driven approach, including the upcycling of discarded mangrove biomass into high-value bioactive compounds, SATEERA also aligns scientific advancement with environmental responsibility, supporting Malaysia’s Bioeconomy Transformation Programme and sustainable innovation goals.

With multiple recognitions now reinforcing its scientific credibility, SATEERA continues to lead the Good Bacteria Era, positioning Malaysia at the forefront of intelligent, microbiome-safe biotechnology innovation
