Nestlé Malaysia Relaunches ‘Walk A Million Miles’ to Boost Heart Health Nationwide

Key Insights

Nestlé Omega Plus® has relaunched its iconic Walk A Million Miles (WAMM) campaign with renewed ambition, partnering with Yayasan Jantung Malaysia (YJM) and Institut Jantung Negara Foundation (IJNF) and aligning with the World Heart Federation’s (WHF) global priorities to tackle cardiovascular disease, according to a press release shared with PP Health Malaysia (PPHM) by Nestlé Malaysia.

Marking 25 years since the campaign began, Nestlé Omega Plus announced a series of stepped-up commitments for 2025–2026. The brand has pledged to deliver 1 million health screenings across Malaysia by 2026 in support of WHF’s “Don’t Miss A Beat” initiative, and has raised its local WAMM targets to 3 million miles walked and 30,000 participants.

Nestlé Omega Plus is also doubling its annual donation to heart-health causes, increasing combined funding to RM200,000 for YJM and IJNF. The funds will support patient financial assistance, research, education and outreach programmes that promote cholesterol awareness and preventative heart care in grassroots communities.

“As a WHF member, YJM is committed to advancing the federation’s goals of providing equitable access to treatment while driving greater awareness and prevention of heart diseases,” said Dato’ Dr Aljafri Abdul Majid, Chairman of Yayasan Jantung Malaysia. He added that the partnership with Nestlé Omega Plus will help ensure no one “misses a beat” in their heart-health journey through walking initiatives and targeted funding.

Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, noted the longstanding link between the brand and heart-health advocacy. “Nestlé Omega Plus’ journey of empowering Malaysians to take care of their heart health began in 2000 — the same year as World Heart Day. Today, WAMM has grown from a small initiative into a meaningful contribution to heart-health prevention in Malaysia,” he said.

The campaign was unveiled at a media launch that included a panel discussion titled “Don’t Miss a Beat” with healthcare professionals. Dr Rowina Lynne Murray from Institut Jantung Negara highlighted the urgency of the issue, saying ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death among Malaysians aged 30 to 69, accounting for about 20% of fatalities. She added that walking 30 to 50 minutes a day can significantly lower cardiovascular risk and help manage cholesterol.

WAMM’s programme for September and October will include a range of nationwide events and activities. The main physical walk is scheduled for 13 September at Taman Botani Perdana and will feature health screenings provided by YJM and IJNF, product tasting sessions, family activities and prize draws. Sports brands such as Amazfit and Decathlon will participate in the event.

The campaign will also continue mall activations under the “Love Your Heart” banner, offering free health screenings and interactive experiences aimed at raising awareness and motivating Malaysians to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Registration for WAMM 2025 opened on 29 August via the BookDoc mobile app, where participants can log their miles and take part and win prizes in the eight-week walking initiative aligned with WHF’s September movement.
