Polident Malaysia Launches Campaign to Provide Free Dentures to 240 Underserved Malaysians

Key Insights ▼

Polident Malaysia, a denture care brand by Haleon Malaysia, has launched “Bersamamu, Senyuman Dikembalikan“, a multi-sector denture access campaign aimed at helping underserved Malaysians aged 50 and above regain oral function, confidence and quality of life.

The campaign brings together the dental faculties of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and MAHSA University, with Watsons Malaysia as the official retail partner.

Through the programme, 240 Malaysian citizens aged 50 and above who are fully toothless in the upper arch, lower arch, or both arches will receive full dentures at no cost, subject to terms and conditions. The dentures will be fabricated and fitted by Year 4 and Year 5 dental students from the four participating universities under the supervision of experienced dentists.

The initiative comes amid a significant oral health gap in Malaysia. According to the National Oral Health Survey of Adults (NOHSA 2020) data cited by Polident, 48.4% of Malaysian adults require dentures, but only 16.3% currently have them.

The Malaysian campaign builds on a regional programme that has provided more than 7,000 free dentures to underserved communities in the Philippines and Indonesia since 2023.

Neelesh Suryavanshee, General Manager of Haleon Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, said the campaign reflects Haleon’s wider purpose of delivering everyday health with humanity.

“For Polident specifically, we bring this purpose to life through Bersamamu, a campaign structured around three interdependent pillars: access, education, and research on dentures and oral care,” he said.

“However, this is not something we can do alone. This is why we are proud to bring this multisector coalition together, and we look forward to scaling this programme to more Malaysians in the future.”

In addition to providing dentures, the campaign will include oral health education and a clinical observational study on the relationship between denture access and quality of life.

UKM will lead the two-phase study, which will track Oral Health-Related Quality of Life using the validated OHIP-14 framework. Patients will be assessed at one week, three months, six months and 12 months after treatment.

The findings are planned for publication upon completion of the study and are expected to contribute to Malaysia’s oral health evidence base.

Dr Hetal Ashvin Kumar, Lead Principal Investigator of the Senyuman Dikembalikan Research Study from UKM’s Faculty of Dentistry, said the programme would benefit both patients and dental students in a press release shared with PP Health Malaysia (PPHM).

“Bersamamu is more than a CSR campaign. For the students of our four dental faculties, it is one of the most meaningful classrooms they will ever step into,” she said.

“These are Malaysians who may not have smiled comfortably in years, who have avoided certain foods, or who feel self-conscious even among family members. When students become part of the journey that restores someone’s confidence and quality of life, it changes how they understand what it truly means to care for a patient.”

Patients will also receive a Polident care kit and structured guidance on proper denture hygiene as part of the programme.

As the official retail partner, Watsons Malaysia will support the campaign through Polident product sales. From 1 June to 31 July 2026, every Polident product purchased at Watsons, both in-store and online, will contribute RM1 towards funding free dentures for eligible patients, up to a total contribution of RM80,000.
