IHH Healthcare said it is continuing to strengthen patient care, clinical capacity and service delivery across its network, while also taking new steps to improve the responsible use of antibiotics.
At its 16th Annual General Meeting on 25 May 2026, shareholders approved all 10 resolutions tabled. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with attendees participating in person in Kuala Lumpur and online. PP Health Malaysia (PPHM) was invited to and attended the group’s media briefings.
The group said FY2025 was a year of disciplined execution, with progress in expanding services, improving operations and supporting healthcare teams. It also reported continued work on technology and system upgrades designed to help hospitals run more efficiently and improve the patient experience.
Non-Executive Chairman Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani bin H Hassan Thani said: “FY2025 was a year of disciplined execution, in which the Group strengthened its core, deepened clinical capabilities and continued to deliver value for our stakeholders.”
Group Chief Executive Officer Dr Prem Kumar Nair said: “We demonstrated the strength of IHH’s integrated and diversified network in FY2025 by delivering strong growth, while expanding capacity, advancing clinical leadership and deepening innovation to serve patients better.”
IHH also mentioned the SGD 250 million sustainability-linked loan from DBS to support responsible antibiotic use. The company said this is the first use case in which sustainable financing has been linked to strengthening antibiotic stewardship.
As part of the initiative, IHH aims to improve the tracking of antibiotic follow-up reviews within 72 hours of treatment starting, so clinicians can assess whether antibiotics should be continued or adjusted. The company noted that antibiotic compliance rates are not consistently tracked across the healthcare sector, making better monitoring an important step towards more responsible care.
When asked about antibiotic stewardship, IHH Group Chief Medical Officer, Adjunct Associate Professor Keith Lim Hsiu Chin told PP Health Malaysia (PPHM): “As a responsible healthcare network, we are committed to tackling some of the world’s most pressing health issues. We do so by combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR), reducing disease burden, and strengthening emergency preparedness.”
IHH CEO, Dr Prem Kumar Nair also told PP Health Malaysia (PPHM) that the antibiotic stewardship initiative is new and transformative, but not IHH’s first sustainability-linked effort. He noted that the group has introduced earlier initiatives that also reflect its long-term focus on sustainability.
The group said the financing supports its wider efforts to improve clinical quality and patient safety across its hospitals.
IHH is also investing in a cloud-based treasury platform with AI tools, as well as a single enterprise system covering finance, human resources and procurement. While these changes are mostly behind the scenes, the company said they are intended to improve efficiency, coordination and supply chain resilience, which can support more consistent care delivery.
The group also pointed to its healthcare priorities in key markets. These include growing daycare volumes in Malaysia, increasing contributions from Mount Elizabeth Orchard in Singapore, improving collaboration between Fortis Healthcare and Gleneagles in India, and sustaining Acibadem’s market position in Türkiye.
On sustainability, IHH said it achieved 14 of 16 targets under its 2025 goals and launched new 2030 targets in April 2026. These include a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from a 2025 baseline, along with new targets on water, waste and supplier engagement.
IHH said it remains focused on clinical excellence, operational resilience and delivering better care for patients across its network.
