No New Mpox Reported in Malaysia So Far, MOH reported

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that Malaysia has not reported any new cases of monkeypox (mpox) despite a rise in infections in Africa.

So far, Malaysia has recorded a total of nine mpox cases, with the first case reported on July 26, 2023, and the most recent case in November 2023.

“All individuals affected had a history of high-risk activities and have since recovered. There have been no reported deaths,” stated MOH in a press release today.

Mpox is caused by the mpox virus, which belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus. It spreads through direct contact with rashes or blisters from an infected person, or through respiratory fluids during close or intimate interactions.
